GPC is building a 4 MWp solar power plant at Tozeur-Nefta Airport as part of the TEEP program
On June 19, 2026, Green Power Company (GPC) participated in the signing ceremony for the contract to build a 4 MWp photovoltaic power plant at Tozeur-Nefta International Airport. The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the National Energy Management Agency (ANME), in the presence of the project’s key institutional stakeholders.
This agreement was signed between the National Energy Management Agency (ANME), the Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA), and Green Power Company (GPC), the company responsible for constructing the solar power plant.
The event was attended by Mr. Nafeâ BEKKARI, Director General of ANME; Mr. Habib TOUMI, Acting Director General of OACA; Mr. Aymen KSONTINI, Director General of GPC; and several executives from the three institutions.
This project is part of the National Energy Transition Program for Public Institutions (TEEP), led by ANME, which aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy in Tunisia and improve the energy efficiency of public infrastructure.
4 MWp Photovoltaic Power Plant: A Key Project for Green Airports in Tunisia
With an installed capacity of 4 MWp, this photovoltaic solar power plant is one of the largest self-generation facilities built in Tunisia’s public sector as part of the TEEP program. It represents a strategic step toward the transition of airport infrastructure to the concept of green airports in Tunisia, based on the integration of renewable energy and the reduction of the carbon footprint.
The plant is scheduled to come online by the end of 2026, in accordance with the contractual commitments for its completion.
Solar Power Generation for the Tozeur-Nefta and Djerba-Zarzis Airports
The future photovoltaic power plant will cover a significant portion of the electricity needs of both the Tozeur-Nefta International Airport and the Djerba-Zarzis International Airport. This project will help reduce conventional energy consumption and improve the energy efficiency of Tunisia’s airport infrastructure.
GPC, a key player in the energy transition and the solar power sector in Tunisia
Through this project, GPC reaffirms its role as a major player in Tunisia’s solar power sector and its expertise in developing large-scale solar power plants. The company also reaffirms its commitment to the energy transition, sustainable development, and the promotion of renewable energy in public infrastructure.
